Honduras defender Juan Carlos Garcia diagnosed with leukemia
WIGAN, England (AP) — English club Wigan says Honduras defender Juan Carlos Garcia has been diagnosed with leukemia.
Garcia, who played at the 2014 World Cup, developed a blood disorder and went to a Manchester hospital for treatment.
Wigan manager Malky Mackay says “we’ve had some bad news as far as that’s concerned, he has a form of leukemia.”
Mackay says Garcia’s mother, wife and sister have flown over from Honduras.
The 26-year-old Garcia joined Wigan in 2013 from Olimpia in Honduras.
