Highlands Earns Medicare’s Five-star Rating
FITCHBURG -- The Highlands, a skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility, recently earned a five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
The CMS ratings system is designed to assist the public in choosing care for their loved ones. It calculates the ratings based on results of health inspections, staffing and quality measures (including pain management, pressure ulcers, weight loss and falls).
“Everybody, in every department, plays a significant role in the care of our patients and residents,” said Carlos Bonilla, executive director. “At The Highlands, that’s what we’re all about.”
The rating was official in fall 2018. The Highlands is located at 335 Nichols Road.
German artist on display at FAM
FITCHBURG -- The work of a German artist who created art at his home in Groton and directed visual art studies at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology will be on display at the Fitchburg Art Museum starting in February.
“Fire and Light: Otto Piene in Groton, 1983-2014” will be open Feb. 9 through June 2.
The museum exhibit will display some of Piene’s major works from the mid 1980s, including “Proliferation of the Sun,” which is an immersive installation of slides projected onto screens and an inflatable sphere.
Piene is known as a founder of Group ZERO in the 1950s and 60s. The group of artists explored visual perception through new media.
