Video shows man stuff puppy in pocket at Ohio pet store

HAMILTON, Ohio — Surveillance video from a pet store in southwest Ohio shows a man steal a puppy by stuffing it into the pocket of his hooded sweat shirt.

The puppy has been returned to Cheri’s Preferred Puppies thanks to the video, but the suspect remains at-large, WCPO Channel 9 reports.

“I felt violated, it’s not the first time it’s happened,” store owner Cheri Dalton tells WEWS Channel 5. “Altogether, I have had nine dogs stolen, I’ve gotten eight of them back.”

The theft of the 9-week-old Chihuahua occurred Saturday, reports say. Fox 19 reports the suspect sold the puppy to another man, who then gave it to his girlfriend.

The puppy was returned when its new owner realized it had been stolen, WCPO reports. A vet examined the puppy and it was unharmed, reports say.

Hamilton police are investigating the theft.
