Early Voting OK in Tewksbury

TEWKSBURY -- Tewksbury residents will be able to participate in early voting for the Tuesday, Nov. 6 election between Oct. 22 and Nov. 2 at Town Hall. Town Hall will be open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. On Saturday, Oct. 27, Town Hall will also be open from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for early voting.

Those who wish to cast their ballots by mail can submit an application to Town Clerk, 1009 Main St., Tewksbury MA 01876. The early ballot application is available on the Secretary of State’s website.

Those who will be out of town, have a disability or religious reasons that prevent going to the polls, qualify for an absentee ballot.

Conservation opening in town

WILMINGTON -- The town’s Conservation Commission has a vacancy to fill. Those interested in the seat should submit their applications by Friday, Oct. 26 at 4:30 p.m.

Members of the Conservation Commission deal with a number of things, including wetland protection and conservation land.

The application for appointment can be found on the town website, www.wilmingtonma.gov . Applications should be returned to the Town Manager’s Office, at Town Hall, 121 Glen Road.

Billerica hosts breakfast for vets

BILLERICA -- The Department of Veterans’ services is hosting a breakfast for veterans on Thursday, Nov. 8 at the Billerica Lodge of Elks on Webb Brook Road.

Doors open at 8:30 a.m. and breakfast cooked by students at Shawsheen Regional Technical High School will be served by 9 a.m.

The event is open to veterans and sponsored by Daniel Turco and Flir Systems.

Voter registration deadline near

BILLERICA -- The town clerk is reminding residents to register to vote for the Nov. 6 election by the statewide deadline, Wednesday Oct. 17.

Billerica residents can register in person at the registrars’ office in Town Hall, through a mail-in application or online at www.registertovotema.com .

Substance abuse forum on Oct. 17

BILLERICA -- Next week, Billerica Substance Abuse Prevention will hold a forum featuring presentations about vaping and current drug trends.

The event is Wednesday, Oct. 17 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Marshall Middle School.

The event is open to all ages and includes raffles, food, Narcan training, a Hidden in Plain Sight Exhibit, drug take back and community resources.

Students, the Evan G. Foundation, and Steve Woods of Winchester Hospital are expected to present at the forum.

The following Sunday, Oct. 21, Billerica Substance Abuse Prevention will hold a candlelight ceremony on the common in honor of town residents lost to overdoses. The vigil begins at 6 p.m.
