ARTS UPDATE

ART DONATION: The Fort Wayne Public Art program received $110,000 from the Chamber Foundation to support the efforts of the Public Art Commission of creating more public art works throughout Fort Wayne.

CLASSES AND LECTURES:

• The University of Saint Francis, 2701 Spring St., will host Chelsea Nix of Project Simple from 2:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday in the Mimi and Ian Rolland Art and Visual Communication Center. The lecture is free.

• Arts United of Greater Fort Wayne and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic will present “Music and the Mind” featuring opera singer Renee Fleming at noon Oct. 7 at the Arts United Center, 303 E. Main St. The event is free. To register for the event go to fwphil.org/events/music-and-mind or call 481-0770.

• Sweetwater Studios, 5501 U.S. 30 W., will host a hands-on master class with Rick Nielsen, lead guitarist of the band Cheap Trick, on Nov. 2 and 3. Registration is $1,495 per person and can be made by gong to www.sweetwaterstudios.com/mc-rick-nielsen-11-02-18.

CHOIR PROGRAM: Enrollment is open for the second and third sessions of the Fort Wayne Children’s Choir Preparatory Program for children ages 6 to 7. To register or for more information, go to fwcchoir.org or call 481-0481.
