Billerica Rallies to Earn Impressive Tie

Trailing 2-1 entering the third period, Garrett Climo scored at the 1:29 mark on assists from DJ Fantasia and Garrett Murphy to help Billerica come from behind to tie Arlington Catholic, 2-2 in a non-league game.

Elsewhere in boys action, Westboro shut out Groton-Dunstable, 3-0, and Fitchburg skated past Nashoba Tech, 7-3.

The Indians dominated the game, holding a 38-13 advantage in shots. Freshman Paul Eagen scored the first goal with helpers going to Murphy and PJ Comiskey.

Goalie Connor Feeney made 11 saves.

Hopedale 8

Littleton 2

In the losing effort, Justin Montepeluso and James Peterson each had a goal and an assist, and James Peterson picked up an assist as the Tigers are now 1-1-1.

Wachusett 8

North Middlesex 1

The Patriots closed to within two goals late in the first period, but Wachusett pulled away at NorthStar Ice Sports.

North Middlesex (1-2) received its goal from Caleb Amidon. Picking up the assist was Trent Costa.

Central Catholic 5

Westford 1

Tyler Guillemette scored the lone goal for Westford Academy on assists from Jason Bunyon and Kevin Bruskiewitz as the Grey Ghosts fell to 0-2 on the season.

Freshman Colin Winn played well and made 24 saves.

Reading 4

Wilmington 2

The Wildcats (2-1) fell for the first time this season to a powerful Reading squad in a Middlesex League cross-over game. The Rockets held a 43-22 advantage in shots, including 18-5 in the third period. Connor Benoit and Ryan Barrett each had a goal and an assist and Conlin Duffy had one assist.

Junior goalie Anthony Cuozzo was strong between the pipes in making 39 saves.

GIRLS

Reading 7

Wilmington 1

The Wildcats were no match for Reading during their Middlesex League road contest.

Netting the lone goal for the Wildcats was senior forward Lia Kourkoutas.

Billerica/Chelmsford 5

Acton-Boxboro 0

MacKenzie Graham scored a hat trick to lead the Billerica/Chelmsford (1-2-1) to a dominating MVC/DCL victory.

Grace Falanagan added a goal and an assist and Samantha Fantasia had the other goal. Kelly Hardy had three assists.

Freshman goalie Sarah Noyes made 20 saves to record the shutout.
