NEW YORK (AP) _ Cleveland designated hitter David Justice, Anaheim pitcher Troy Percival, Toronto reliever Paul Spoljaric and Minnesota infielder Christian Guzman were all suspended for three games and fined $500 Thursday by the American League.

Percival and Guzman appealed the penalties, which were to begin Friday. Justice will decide Friday whether he will appeal. Spoljaric began serving his penalty Thursday night.

Percival hit Justice with a pitch Tuesday night, and Justice charged the mound. Spoljaric was ejected Tuesday night for throwing at Guzman, who also charged.

For the players appealing, no penalty can start until after AL president Gene Budig holds a hearing.
