Plane lands in Lee Bird Field due to disorderly passenger
An unruly passenger forced a charter flight to land at Lee Bird Field in North Platte on Monday.
The plane was on its way from Las Vegas to New York City.
North Platte police and sheriff’s officers were called to the airport about 5 p.m.
Police Information Officer Beth Kerr said the flight was diverted because the passenger was threatening to harm other passengers and crew members and was “throwing things at those people.”
Law enforcement boarded the plane on a runway and contacted a 23-year-old Las Vegas man.
The man refused to comply with officers’ orders, but after a struggle he was arrested.
The man was jailed on suspicion of terroristic threats and resisting arrest.
Kerr said more charges may be forthcoming from other agencies because the man’s actions forced the flight to divert.
