VAN BUREN, Ark. _ An Arkansas judge has dismissed local charges against four carnival workers suspected in the deaths of a retired couple in Kansas. SENT: 250 words, photos.

RURAL BROADBAND

COLUMBIA, Mo. _ An Illinois-based internet provider is planning to spur broadband development in rural areas across five states in the central U.S. Wisper ISP Inc. is set to receive money from the Federal Communication Commission for broadband development in Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana and Kansas. LITTLE ROCK-TWO DEAD _ Police in Little Rock say they’re investigating after a woman and a boy were found dead in the parking lot of an apartment complex.

INMATE RECAPTURED _ Authorities say they’ve recaptured an inmate who escaped the St. Francis County jail in eastern Arkansas on Christmas Eve.

ARKANSAS CASINOS _ The Arkansas Racing Commission has given tentative approval to two new regulations dealing with casino gambling after voters agreed to legalize them last month.

NORTHEAST ARKANSAS-POLICE SHOOTING _ Authorities say a police officer shot and killed a man outside of a convenience store in northeast Arkansas.
