North Dakota juvenile dies in snowmobile crash
DEADWOOD — A North Dakota juvenile died Sunday at Lead-Deadwood Regional Hospital from injuries sustained from a snowmobile accident.
According to a prepared statement issued by the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred around 9:45 p.m. Saturday on SD Snowmobile Trail 7 on the Mickelson Trail. The juvenile was a passenger on the snowmobile being driven by a family member. Information gathered during the investigation indicated that the driver of the snowmobile lost control and overturned the snowmobile, Lead Police Chief John Wainman said.
Lawrence County Coroner Marty Goetsch said alcohol was not a factor in the crash. The identities of those involved in the crash are being withheld pending investigation by the South Dakota Game, Fish, and Park officials, South Dakota Highway Patrol, Lead Police Department, and Lawrence County Coroner’s Office at the request of the family.
