TYNGSBORO -- Greater Lowell Technical High School recently selected its October Students of the Month. Each of the students displays the characteristics of Greater Lowell Tech’s core values of respect, effort, accountability, commitment and honesty in their classes and among their peers.

Sandra Homem of Lowell is Senior of the Month. She is an honor-roll student in the Cosmetology program and has perfect attendance. She was recently inducted into the National Technical Honor Society and National Honor Society. She has received the Outstanding Achievement Award in Cosmetology and the Physical Education Award. She volunteers for Back to School Night and freshman orientation.

Sandra plans to attend college to pursue a degree in Business and open her own salon and spa. She was nominated for having a positive attitude and always giving 100 percent effort in the classroom.

Marialis Rios of Lowell is the Junior of the Month. She is an honor-roll student in the Medical Laboratory and Assisting program. She has been involved in a number of community-service projects through her church.

Marialis plans to attend college to earn a degree in Nursing. She was nominated for her great attitude.

Araxi Collazo of Lowell is the Sophomore of the Month. She is an honor-roll student in the Health Assisting and Pre-Nursing program and is a member of the cross-country team. She has participated in the GLTHS Spaghetti Dinner and Lowell General TeamWalk for CancerCare.

Araxi plans to attend Fitchburg State University and study to become a forensic pathologist. She was nominated for being a respectful, polite and a hard-working student.

Abbey Gingras of Dracut is the Freshman of the Month. She entered from St. Louis School and is a member of the Math Club, Drama Club, Freshman Class Planning Committee and Project Purple. She volunteers for LIFT, an organization that aims to combat poverty and expand opportunity for all.

Abbey plans to attend UMass Lowell to study Biomedical Engineering. She was nominated for being a hard-working and motivated student who always shows effort.
