Washington St. 90, Central Washington 61

PULLMAN, Wash. (AP) _ Rodrigo de la Fuente scored 19 points to lead Washington State to a 90-61 victory over Central Washington in the season opener for both teams Friday night.

De la Fuente also pulled down six rebounds for the Cougars, who finished with four players scoring in double figures. Cris Crosby scored 17 points, Blake Pengelly had 13 and Carlos Daniel finished with 11.

Daniel and Lief Nelson each added six rebounds.

Washington State took a 14-11 lead early in the game before going on a 16-5 scoring streak. The Cougars led 45-26 at the half and never let the Wildcats get close in the second half.

Tyce Nasinec led Central Washington with 17 points. Leon Johnson added 13 points and Simon Dubiel had 11 for the Wildcats, who shot just 35 percent from the field to Washington State’s 50 percent.

Central Washington also was outrebounded 41-to-30.
