Ladies fall to Parker 52-43; to host Mountain View today at 4:30 p.m.
PARKER, Ariz. — Playing without senior starter Valentina Limon the Lady ’Stangs varsity basketball team fell to the Parker Lady Broncos 52-43 in non-conference competition Dec. 17.
“Today’s game was just what we thought it was going to be,” said Coach Manuel Calderon. “Parker’s girls played hard through all four quarters.”
Freshman Jordyn Breaux led the Lady ’Stangs’ scoring with 13, the only Needles girl to reach double digits.
“At times we were in foul trouble and went to the bench,” Calderon said. “All 10 girls performed well tonight.”
Marie Mills and Paige Murch were held to six points each in the contest. Riley Breaux scored eight: six of them from the free throw line.
Needles scored 10 in the first quarter, eight in the second, 16 in the third and nine in the fourth. Parker’s scores were not available.
The Lady ’Stangs host Mountain View in a varsity-only NIAA 2A South League game in The Corral today. Tipoff is at 4:30 p.m.
Limon is expected to return to action when the Lady ’Stangs host Lincoln County in NIAA 2A South League play Thursday, Dec. 20. The junior varsity tip off at 3 p.m., the varsity at 6 p.m. in The Corral.
