Rare coin auction Aug. 25 at Gilpin Fire Hall
Coins and currency from three Alle-Kiski Valley collectors will be auctioned Saturday at the Gilpin Volunteer Fire Co.
Rare Coins include a 1785 Half Cent, 1795 Large Cent, and Key Coins with 1877 Indian Cent.
Currency includes a 1882 $5 Citizens Bank of Corry Pa. bill. There are only four known to exist, auctioneer Jerry Smith said. His company is located in Leechburg, about two miles south of the fire hall along Route 66.
Saturday’s auction includes one of only two known 1929 National Bank of Jefferson Pa. bills.
The doors open Friday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. for inspection. The auction starts at about 12 p.m. Saturday.
The Gilpin Fire Hall is offering food for sale.
