Police identify officer who fired at car; no victims found

January 9, 2019

BALTIMORE (AP) — Police are identifying a Baltimore police officer who fired a shot at a fleeing car as officers investigated gunfire over the weekend.

Baltimore Police said in a statement Wednesday that Sgt. David Colburn fired the shots Saturday night. Police say Colburn, who has been with the department since 2008, hasn’t been involved in previous officer-involved shootings.

Police have said officers conducting a drug investigation Saturday night heard gunshots and an 18-year-old man was wounded. Police say officers who ran to the area where shots were heard encountered a vehicle trying to flee and that’s when Colburn fired. Police say investigators have not located any shooting victims.

Police spokesman Detective Jeremy Silbert says Colburn has been placed on administrative duties during an investigation.
