Idaho man pleads guilty to stealing firearm from pawn shop

March 4, 2018

POCATELLO, Idaho (AP) — An Idaho man with a previous felony conviction has pleaded guilty to stealing a handgun from a pawn shop.

Federal prosecutors say Brandon Lee Damon visited A to Z pawn in Blackfoot, Idaho on August 3, 2017. They say he waited until the clerk was not looking and reached over the counter and stole a Black Taurus 9 mm handgun.

He took the gun home and police reviewed security camera footage and saw him steal the gun.

Police secured a search warrant and found the handgun in his home. Damon had a previous felony conviction, so he was prohibited from possessing a firearm.

Damon agreed to plead guilty last week, according to court records.

He faces a possible 10 year prison term and $250,000 fine when he’s sentenced.
