Shooting leaves man dead
One man is dead, and another man in critical condition after a shooting Sunday night.
Fort Wayne police were called at 9:37 p.m. to the 3500 block of Congress Avenue on reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found the first victim at a home suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, according to Jason Anthony, public information officer.
First aid was administered until medics arrived, and the man was taken to the hospital in critical condition.
A K-9 unit was called after police were told by a witness that the suspect had fled the area on foot and was running southbound between homes, Anthony said. The dog led police to a second victim, who was found lying on the ground at a nearby residence. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
No arrests were made, and police were canvassing the neighborhood to search for evidence and witnesses.
Anyone with information about the shootings are asked to call the Fort Wayne Police Department at 260-427-1222 or Crime Stoppers at 260-436-7867.
If the coroner rules the death a homicide, along with a Saturday morning fatal shooting, it could be the 35th and 36th homicides in Allen County this year.
The shooting remains under investigation.
