OREGON – The longtime Ogle County planning and zoning administrator is leaving the job to which he devoted the last 25 years of his life to pursue a higher calling:

Michael Reibel, 51, of Byron, is stepping down Aug. 31 to enter the ministry, Ogle County Board Chairman Kim Gouker said.

Reibel has “answered God’s persistent call,” and will attend the seminary this fall in Dubuque, Iowa while serving as a part-time minister at Trinity Lutheran Church in Lanark, Gouker said, quoting from Reibel’s resignation letter to the board.

Reibel was appointed to the post in 1994.
