SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) _ Joe Sacco scored two goals as Team USA defeated Team Canada 7-4 in a pre- Olympic exhibition game.

Ted Drury, Shawn McEachern, C.J. Young, David Jensen and Dan Keczmer added goals and Scott Gordon made 23 saves for Team USA (10-11-4) in Sunday night’s game. Team USA is 1-1-2 against Team Canada with nine pre-Olympic games remaining between the teams.

Chris Lindberg scored two goals and Scott Scissons and Kent Manderville added goals for Team Canada (16-4-3).

REGINA, Saskatchewan (AP) - Doug Flutie threw two touchdown passes and Don Volpe rushed for 160 yards on 22 carries as the British Columbia Lions defeated the Saskatchewan Roughriders 36-5 in a CFL played in winter conditions.

Flutie completed 14 of 21 pass attempts for 160 yards in Sunday’s game played in below-freezing temperatures and driving snow fueled by wind gusts of 25 mph. British Columbia and Edmonton are tied for the lead in the Western Division with 11-6 records.

TOKYO (AP) - Koji Akiyama hit a two-run homer and Kimiyasu Kudo pitched five scoreless innings of relief today as the Seibu Lions routed the Hiroshima Toyo Carp 7-1 in the seventh game of the Japan Series.

Akiyama, who hit four home runs and had eight RBIs in the series, was named the most valuable player. Seibu has captured seven Japan Series titles.

HAMILTON, Ontario (AP) - Rickey Foggie completed 17 of 41 pass attempts for 361 yards and two touchdowns as the Toronto Argonauts defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 39-34 in the CFL’s Hall of Fame game.

Foggie also rushed for 55 yards and a touchdown on nine carries in Sunday’s game. Toronto’s Raghib ″Rocket″ Ismail had three receptions for 107 yards.

Toronto leads the Eastern Division with a 12-5 record.

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) - Tracy Ham completed 18 of 34 pass attempts for 199 yards and a touchdown as the Edmonton Eskimos defeated the Calgary Stampeders 24-23 in a CFL game played in winter conditions.

Sunday’s game was played in temperatures that hovered just above zero and a strong northwest wind.

Edmonton and British Columbia are tied for the lead in the Western Division with 11-6 records. Calgary is third at 10-7.

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. (AP) - Fifth-seeded Paloma Collantes of Mississippi defeated eighth-seeded Heather Willens of Stanford 6-4, 6-3 in the final of the Riviera All-American Tennis Championships on Sunday.
