Codefresh Removes Barriers to Helm Ecosystem by Launching Integration with Microsoft Azure

November 13, 2018

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov 13, 2018--Codefresh today announced integration with Microsoft Azure hosted Helm Repositories, an important step in making it incredibly efficient for teams to adopt Helm by removing the barriers to the Helm ecosystem.

As the Helm ecosystem grows, Codefresh is leading the way with Microsoft making it easier to build, test, and deploy Helm Charts with an easy-to-use Codefresh GUI, and store them in the Azure Container Registry. This is valuable for teams using Kubernetes as users can package Kubernetes applications with the charts and the images they reference together.

The Codefresh integration with Azure offers:

Login with Azure to add repositories to Codefresh; no additional authentication configuration required Consume and push Charts from Codefresh Manage Chart deployments in all connected Kubernetes clusters Geo-replicate charts across multiple regions, using the Azure Container Registry Geo-replication capabilities.

Dan Garfield, Codefresh’s Chief Technology Evangelist, said, “Codefresh exposes and makes a lot easier the pattern that Helm is really designed for, which is to make your application, package it, store it, and then consume it. That way, you have disaster recovery built in because you can always roll back.”

As the first Kubernetes-native Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) platform, Codefresh helps developers instantly build, test, and deploy to Kubernetes, and gather feedback on apps, resulting in up to 24-times faster development times.

“As CNCF is focused on fostering innovation within the cloud native ecosystem, we’re thrilled to see members like Codefresh and Microsoft Azure working to support the needs of such a fast-moving community,” said Dan Kohn, executive director of Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), incubator of Helm.

Krishnan Subramanian, Rishidot Research analyst and cloud computing and open source expert, added, “By providing a managed Helm repository, Codefresh helps Helm to fulfill the high and much anticipated market expectations of the package manager as a key component in the mass adoption of microservices. This buy-in from Codefresh and Microsoft legitimizes Helm, meaning more enterprises will take full advantage of all Kubernetes has to offer – to speed development, improve security, and easily update and manage applications – and ultimately reduce time to market.”

“Helm Chart Repositories are a natural and obvious addition to Azure Container Registry as we see more and more customers moving into production needing a means to deploy a collection of images and configurations. Being able to geo-replicate Helm Charts alongside their referenced images using common authentication streamlines chart deployments. We continue to be impressed by the focus and experiences Codefresh brings to container native development, and the creative and customer focused team,” Steve Lasker, Principal Program Manager, Microsoft Container Registries.

Details about the integration for Azure Helm Repositories can be found in Codefresh’s new blog, “ .” In addition, Codefresh is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, November 28 at 10:00 a.m. Pacific, hosted by Microsoft Azure’s Lasker and Codefresh’s Garfield.
