Sun Devil men’s golf qualifies for Nat’l Champ.
STANFORD, Calif. — The Sun Devil men’s golf team took care of business at the Stanford Regional, qualifying for the 2019 NCAA Men’s Golf Championship after finishing tied for second as a team.
This is the fifth consecutive year the program has advanced to the national championship, the last three coming under 2019 Pac-12 Coach of the Year Matt Thurmond. After being on the outside looking-in following the completion of the first round, the Sun Devils turned it on and proved why they were awarded a No. 1 national seed. They put together the second-lowest round of the day during each of the final two days, finishing behind only host Stanford, who took home the team regional title.
ASU is on to Fayetteville to compete in the 2019 National Championship and is joined by No. 3 seed Stanford, No. 5 seed North Carolina, No. 10 seed Georgia Southern, and No. 4 seed LSU.
