Aiken Standard Kids Triathlon returns for second year this weekend

Kristina RackleyMay 16, 2019

The Aiken Standard Kids Triathlon is scheduled for this weekend, marking the triathlon’s second year of getting families and kids outdoors and exercising.

On Saturday over 50 children from around the CSRA will compete in running, swimming and biking courses in Graniteville. The competitors will be split into four age groups, with the race distances increasing appropriately for each age group.

The Aiken Standard Kids Triathlon was created last year by Aiken Standard staff to increase health and fitness and improve self-esteem and confidence in Aiken’s youth.

“We created the event to promote healthy lifestyles for children and their families,” said Aiken Standard Sales and Special Projects Coordinator Diane Daniell. “Completing a triathlon takes commitment, training and support from your family. The Kids Triathlon gives children the opportunity to set their own goals and achieve their goals for swimming, biking and running.”
