Woman Sentenced For Fatal Drag Race In Scott Twp.

BY KATHLEEN BOLUS, STAFF WRITERMay 23, 2019

A Scranton woman will serve up to nearly two years in prison for her involvement in a drag race down Route 632 that caused a fatal wreck.

Judge Margaret Bisignani Moyle sentenced Sondra Lynne Seidita, 23, to 11 1/2 months to 23 1/2 months for involuntary manslaughter for the death of Ryan V. Motsavage, 32, of Dickson City. Seidita will also serve two years of probation, Moyle ruled Wednesday.

On Oct. 16, 2017, Seidita raced Jan Danoys Roman-Marina, 22, down Route 632 after they left work at Process Technologies & Packaging on Life Sciences Drive in Scott Twp. Motsavage was a passenger in Roman-Marina’s car.

As Seidita drove out of the parking lot and onto Commerce Drive, she tailgated Roman-Marina’s 2010 Chevrolet Malibu, police said. Seidita tried to pass Roman-Marina when they got onto Route 632 but he sped up to prevent the pass. The back-and-forth acceleration continued until Seidita sped up and passed Roman-Marina to avoid an oncoming car.

After Seidita passed him, Roman-Marina lost control of his car and hit a pole, ejecting Motsavage, who later died at Geisinger Community Medical Center.

A sentencing hearing for Roman-Marina — who was also charged with involuntary manslaughter — is scheduled for June 12 at 9:30 a.m. in front of Moyle.
