Highlanders get first win for coach

GLENHAYES, W.Va. - Kris Brown scored 21 points and made 5 of 7 attempts from 3-point range to help new Huntington High coach Ty Holmes pick up his first victory Saturday against Tolsia, 67-61, at the Tolsia Rebel Shootout.

Torin Lochow scored 14 and Tajhan Blackwell 10 for HHS (1-1). Freshman Corbin Page grabbed eight rebounds.

Tolsia was led by freshman guard Jesse Muncy, who scored 34 points.

JOHNSON CENTRAL 87, LAWRENCE CO. 56: Isaiah May for Johnson Central received MVP honors in the Rebel Shootout at Tolsia after a double-double game of 22 points and 11 rebounds.

Cory VanHoose (19 points) and John King (10 points) for the Golden Eagles (2-1) made the all-tournament team. Jacob Rice added 16 points.

Tyler Maynard led the Bulldogs (6-2) with 16 points and Noah Fairchild grabbed 12 rebounds.

WAYNE 54, MEIGS 45: Lakyn Adkins scored 12 and completed a double-double with 13 rebounds for Wayne.

Whitney Sansom (13), Haley Wallace (11) and Sara Hooks (10) also scored in double figures for the Pioneers (5-0).

Meigs (5-3) had Kassidy Betzing with 17 points.
