SEATTLE (AP) _ Defensive back Kenny Easley has signed a five-year contract with the Seattle Seahawks, his agent said, and a newspaper reported his new salary will be among the highest for a defensive player in the National Football League.

Easley's agent, Leigh Steinberg of Berkeley, Calif., said Tuesday Easley reached an agreement with the Seahawks on Saturday in San Francisco after three days of talks.

Steinberg refused to give financial details of the agreement.

However, The Seattle Times reported in its Tuesday editions that Easley was believed to have signed for about $650,000 a year, plus incentives. At that amount, Easley would be one of the highest-paid defensive backs in the league.

''Kenny had a superlative season,'' Steinberg said. ''He was defensive player of the year and defensive back of the year. I think his contract is a reflection of that.''

When asked about the newspaper story, Seahawks spokesman Dave Neubert said it was the first he had heard about Easley's contract. He referred questioners to Seahawks President-General Manager Mike McCormack who was in Phoenix for a meeting. A phone call to McCormack's room was not answered.

Easley, who was drafted by the Seahawks out of UCLA in the first round of 1981, was in the last year of a four-year contract at Seattle. His salary last year was about $185,000, plus incentives.

Easley was in Hawaii Tuesday, along with six other Seahawks, for Sunday's Pro Bowl game. It will be Easley's third Pro Bowl appearance.
