ST. LOUIS (AP) _ All-star defenseman Chris Pronger returned to the St. Louis Blues lineup Saturday night after missing 15 games following knee surgery.
Pronger played nine games after tearing cartilage in his left knee Jan. 4 against Nashville. He elected to have arthroscopic surgery after playing 31 minutes Jan. 21 again against Nashville.
When Pronger skated during warm-ups Saturday before the Blues’ game against Boston, he was given a rousing ovation by the home crowd. The St. Louis captain, last season’s league MVP and top defenseman, started and was paired with Jeff Finley.
The Blues, 6-6-3 without Pronger, have fallen behind Detroit in the Central Division since he last played.
St. Louis is still missing injured regulars Al MacInnis, Pavol Demitra and Michal Handzus and has lost a total of 226 man-games this season.
