GLENDALE, Calif. (AP) _ A man and woman stormed into a convenience store early Tuesday and took several hostages after leading police on a high-speed pursuit, authorities said.

A SWAT team responded and police negotiators spoke with the two suspects in the store, authorities said. At least one of the suspects was armed. No one has been injured.

At about 11:45 p.m. Monday, Los Angeles police came across a vehicle in the downtown area that matched the description of a car which had been used in a series of robberies, said LAPD Officer Eddy Zelaya. A background check revealed the car was stolen during a carjacking, police said.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle but the pair sped away and headed north, Zelaya said. The chase ended shortly after midnight in Glendale near a 7-11 convenience store, where the man and woman ran inside and took several hostages.

It was not immediately known if the suspects, who have not been identified, made any demands.

Glendale is 10 miles north of Los Angeles.
