Pocatello woman accused of trying to run man over with her car
POCATELLO — A woman has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly attempting to strike a man with her vehicle on Monday night.
Rebecca Grace Jones, 32, of Pocatello, was arrested around 8 p.m. Monday after police learned that she had attempted to run a man over with her vehicle.
Pocatello police said they responded to a home on the 2500 block of South Second Avenue for the report of a verbal disturbance between a man and woman.
The responding officers identified Jones as the woman and determined that she had attempted to run over the man with her car, narrowly missing him by inches, authorities said.
The man was not injured during the incident.
Police have not released how Jones and the man know each other.
Jones was arrested at the scene and transported to the Bannock County Jail where she is currently incarcerated.
Jones has retained Bannock County Public Defender Dave Martinez as her attorney and appeared in court on Tuesday for an arraignment hearing. Jones is due back in court on Oct. 22 for a preliminary hearing.
Aggravated assault is a felony and if convicted of the offense, Jones faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
