University of Holy Cross names new president
NEW ORLEANS (AP) — The University of Holy Cross has a new leader at the helm.
The university, in a news release Saturday, said 46-year-old Dr. Stanton F. McNeely III has been elected to lead the school after a nationwide search that began in April.
McNeely, who has led the Louisiana Association of Independent Colleges and Universities for the past two years, was chosen from among 35 candidates who applied to replace Dr. David M. Landry, who retired earlier this year. He also was a business professor at UHC in the 2000s.
McNeely’s term as president will begin July 15.
UHC, a fully accredited Catholic university in New Orleans, offers more than 65 majors and programs to more than 1,300 students.
