7 charged in Springfield robbery spree
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Springfield police say they have arrested seven people who robbed six victims at knifepoint in less than an hour.
Police say the suspects rode around in a green Chevrolet Suburban and stole cellphones, an iPad and jewelry from six victims in three separate robberies on Tuesday evening.
The suspects were arrested before 6:30 p.m. just after the third robbery based on victim descriptions of the suspects and their vehicle. Police recovered seven knives and box cutters from the vehicle as well as all the stolen items.
Two of those arrested were 17-year-old juveniles while the adults ranged in age from 18 to 21. Two of the adults are women.
There were held overnight on armed robbery charges pending arraignment Wednesday.
