Police stop wrong-way driver on Phoenix-area freeway
PHOENIX (AP) — State troopers and a Phoenix police motorcycle officer teamed up to stop a wrong-way driver on a Phoenix-area freeway early Friday morning without any collisions or injuries being reported.
Trooper Kameron Lee of the Arizona Department of Public Safety says the Phoenix officer pulled over the wrong-way driver as troopers performed a traffic break to move other vehicles to the other side of the freeway.
Abc15.com (KNXV-TV) reports that the car’s driver was given a sobriety test and then put in handcuffs.
The car was northbound in southbound lanes of State Route 51 near Greenway Road when first reported and that it was stopped along the Loop 101 in Scottsdale.
