Counterfeit money

Kankakee police took reports from two businesses that a male subject came into each and purchased a gift card with a counterfeit bill on Jan. 11. The businesses were located in the 100 block of East Court Street and 200 block of West Court Street. The incidents happened within 20 minutes of one another.

DUI

Illinois State Police District 21 arrested Christopher M. Walrath, 26, of Tinley Park, for driving under the influence of alcohol. According to a release, a trooper was dispatched at 8:33 a.m. to a car vs. semi-tractor trailer crash at mile marker 314 in Kankakee County. The trooper arrived on scene and spoke with the driver, Walrath. Walrath showed signs of alcohol impairment. Walrath was issued tickets for illegal transportation of alcohol, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and operating an uninsured motor vehicle.

Sexual abuse

Kankakee County Sheriff’s police arrested Carlos D. Quintana-Venegas, 28, for criminal sexual abuse and aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a family member under the age of 18 on Jan. 11. According to a prosecutor, Quintana-Venegas is alleged to have had sexual contact with a 13-year-old girl on Dec. 28, 2018. A judge set his bond at $250,000.
