Delaware prisons sell inmates playing cards with cold cases
DOVER, Del. (AP) — Inmates at Delaware’s four prisons will have access to 8,000 new decks of playing cards — featuring 52 cold cases.
News outlets report that the Delaware Department of Correction distributed the cards Friday, hoping that an inmate will come forward with information about the unsolved homicides, missing persons cases and sets of unidentified remains they feature.
The new cold case cards will be the only playing cards available for purchase at commissaries. DOC spokeswoman Jayme Gravell says a similar initiative launched in Connecticut has helped crack 20 cold cases through three editions.
Each participating Delaware agency chose 17 cases for inclusion. Gravell says there are many more that could be included in re-printings.
Inmates can provide tips anonymously by calling Crime Stoppers.
