Mount Morris residents injured in motorcycle accident

SHANNON – A Mount Morris man was airlifted to a Rockford hospital and his passenger hospitalized after a motorcycle crash near Casey’s General Store.

Mackenzie Wagner, 25, of Freeport was heading south on Shannon Road after pulling away from a stop sign at the intersection of state Route 72 at about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday when she collided with a motorcycle driven by Gordon Vaughn, 58, who was westbound on state Route 72, according the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office.

Vaughn was airlifted to MercyHealth Hospital in Rockford. His passenger, Peggy Janssen, 59, of Mount Morris, also was taken to MercyHealth Hospital. Their conditions were unavailable Sunday.

Wagner and her passenger were not injured. She was cited for failure to yield at a stop intersection.

The crash remains under investigation.
