Project hopes to expand public access to backcountry areas
DOVER, Vt. (AP) — A meeting with members of the National Forest Service has left a Vermont trails committee hopeful they can expand public access to the state’s backcountry.
Dover Area Recreation Trails Chairman Andy McLean said at a committee meeting Wednesday that federal officials were positive about the committee’s projects. The Brattleboro Reformer reports the committee seeks to establish a parking area and access to about 500 acres of trails in National Forest Service land.
The committee says it hopes to hand in project details by November before the project goes out for comment in December.
Nearby property owners have been made aware of plans. The committee is set to meet again later in December.
