NEW YORK (AP) _ AT&T Corp. named Thomas W. Horton, former chief financial officer at AMR Corp., as senior executive vice president and chief financial officer of the company.

AT&T on Thursday said Horton, 41, succeeds Charles H. Noski as the company's chief financial officer.

Noski was named AT&T vice chairman in February, although in May, he announced his intention to leave the company when its cable unit merges with Comcast Corp. Noski will continue as vice chairman through the closing of the merger, which is expected by the end of the year.

Separately, American Airlines named Jeffrey C. Campbell, 41, as senior vice president of finance and chief financial officer, replacing the departing Horton.

Horton will become a member of AT&T's Office of the Chairman, which in addition to Noski, includes Chairman and Chief Executive C. Michael Armstrong and President David W. Dorman.
