KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Ron Kellogg and Archie Marshall keyed an 18-4 run that gave No.6 Kansas a 19-point lead Saturday night and sent the Jayhawks on their way to an 81-56 victory over Wichita State in the title game of the BMA Holiday Classic basketball tournament.

In the consolation game, Louis Cook scored six points in overtime to lead Louisiana Tech past Arizona State 87-86.

Underdog Wichita State got to within five points of the Jayhawks at 42-37 on a bucket and a free throw by Steve Grayer. But then Greg Dreiling hit a bucket for Kansas and Kellogg, who led all scorers with 22 points, reeled off three straight unanswered buckets to put the Jayhawks on top, 50-37.

Marshall scored the next six points for Kansas, and Danny Manning completed the run with a 12-footer for a 60-41 lead.

Wichita State, 6-3, never got closer than 17 points as its four-game winning streak came to an end.

Manning, who had a game-high 20 points in Kansas’ first-round victory over Louisiana Tech, had 18 against the Shockers. Mark Turgeon, a reserve guard, had 10 as the Jayhawks, 11-1, won their ninth consecutive game.

Lew Hill had 10 points for Wichita State. Checking in with seven points were Henry Carr, Ted Williams, Sasha Radunovich and Grayer.
