Lynn man charged in 2003 Fitchburg slaying
WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — A Lynn man has been arraigned on charges connected to the fatal shooting of a Fitchburg man more than a decade ago.
Tony Ancrum pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder Thursday in Worcester Superior Court in connection with the September 2003 slaying of 23-year-old Christian Perez.
He was held without bail.
Ancrum and three other men were arrested after the car they were in was stopped by state police on Route 2 in Harvard about an hour after Perez was killed. Police said three loaded guns and cocaine were found in the vehicle. They were charged with gun and drug offenses.
It’s not clear what new evidence led to the charge against Ancrum.
Ancrum’s attorney reserved the right to seek bail at a later date.
