Curt LeDuc wins race across Arizona desert
PARKER, Ariz. (AP) _ Curt LeDuc raced his Jeep Cherokee across the Arizona desert along the banks of the Colorado River to win the trophy-truck division of the SCORE Parker 400 Saturday.
John Herder of Tucson won the overall title in the 337-mile desert race.
LeDuc of Cherry Valley, Calif., won in 5 hours, 49 minutes, 2 seconds to finish third overall while averaging 58.03 mph.
Herder won his first SCORE overall title and claimed the Class 1 win with a time of 5:40.14, averaging 59.53 mph in his Jimco race car.
Troy Herbst of Las Vegas finished third overall, second in Class 1 with a time of 5:45.51. Bob Gordon of Orange, Calif., was fourth overall and third in Class 1 in 5:52.24, while Ray Croll of Corona, Calif., was fifth overall and fourth in Class 1 in 5:57.52.
The race was the opening event in the seven-race SCORE Desert Championship Series.
