Saxophone quartet coming to Pawnee City
The saxophone quartet TCBSQ will perform at at a recital at the Zion Lutheran Church, 504 12th St., on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m. The recital is sponsored by the Pawnee County Arts Council.
“Professional musicians and college music educators make up the TCBSQ, a new saxophone quartet that uses their blend of resonant tone and virtuosic technique to bring new appreciation to the saxophone,” a press release stated. “Known for their vibrant and colorful sounds, they have delighted audiences throughout the country with programs that demonstrate both mastery and musical accessibility to the listener.”
The TCBSQ is now in its second season. The quartet will begin the fall with a tour of Nebraska that includes performances at The University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Hastings College, among other locations. They will be performing a Latin suite as well as music from such composers as Debussy, Romero, Albenez, Florenzo, Iturralde, Gioia, Moulds and Escaich. Their music ranges from classical and jazz to pop and tango.
Members of the TBCSQ Saxophone Quartet are all music educators teaching at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Hastings College, Mid Plains community College in McCook and Lakeview Community Schools in Columbus. They are performing artists traveling and teaching internationally.
