Here’s some of the healthful classes being offered at local hospitals this week:

Tuesday, Nov. 13

n Alzheimer’s Disease Support Group - The Cabell Huntington Hospital Senior Services Department invites anyone affected by Alzheimer’s disease as a patient, caregiver or family member to participate in this monthly support group focused on coping with the disease.

Location: Edwards Comprehensive Cancer Center Resource Room.

n Baby Care Class - Soon-to-be parents learn the basics of what to expect. This class offers tips on how to care for baby from feeding to changing diapers.

n Free Diabetic Foot Screenings - Do you suffer from lack of sensation, a feeling of “pins and needles,” or pain in your feet? If you have diabetes, regular foot screenings are important. Learn your risks at these free screenings.

n Healing Through Grief and Loss Support Group - Participants can engage in learning about grief and loss, share their feelings and experiences and engage in healing experiences in this weekly support group that continues through Dec. 19.

Location: Cabell Huntington Hospital Counseling Services, 517 9th St., second floor.

Time: 3:30 to 5 p.m.

Thursday, Nov. 15

n COPD Awareness Day - Learn more about chronic lung disease and receive tips on how to avoid frequent illness. Free Spirometry testing, medication education, pulmonary rehabilitation demonstrations, Alpha-1 screenings and information on lung health will be offered.

Location: Center for Lung Health (bottom floor).

Time: 9 a.m. to noon .

n Vascular Screenings -Peripheral vascular disease. Carotid artery. Abdominal aortic aneurysm. $45 for each test or $99 for all three tests. Cash, check, or credit cards accepted.

n Sisters of HOPE Breast Cancer Support Group - This free support group is for patients with breast cancer, breast cancer survivors and their loved ones. Everyone is welcome and no RSVP is required. Refreshments will be served.

n Infant CPR Class - Staff members from the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Hoops Family Children’s Hospital teach the basics of performing CPR on infants for parents and caregivers. Registration is required.
