Tomball City Council voted to cancel the city’s May 4 election.

The resolution to cancel the city officer’s election was passed during Tomball City Council’s March 4 meeting. Incumbent city officials Mayor Gretchen Fagan and Councilman Chad Degges, position 3, were unopposed, said city secretary Doris Speer.

“Under the state law in the election code, we can cancel our election because we have unopposed candidates, which would save between $15,000 to $18,000 in expenses for (an) election,” she said.

While Degges was not present at the meeting, the other council members voted in favor of canceling the election.
