Cass County man jailed after his mother fatally stabbed
A man from Bena, Minn., was arrested this week after he allegedly assaulted bar patrons and then fatally stabbed his mother, authorities said.
Cass County Sheriff Tom Burch said Joy Marie Matthews, 54, of Bena, was found unresponsive Wednesday morning. The Ramsey County Medical Examiners Office determined that she died of stab wounds.
The night before, the Sheriffs Office received reports of an out-of-control individual attacking and assaulting several patrons outside the Big Winnie Bar, the Sheriffs Office said in a news release
The 34-year-old suspect is being held in the Cass County jail. The Star Tribune generally does not name suspects before they are charged.
