COLLEGE NOTEBOOK Dunster scores 100th career goal for Dickinson

March 15, 2019

Scoring goals hasn’t been issue for the Dickinson College women’s lacrosse team, thanks in large part to Anne Dunster.

A 2015 Greenwich High School graduate, Dunster has registered at team-leading 16 goals and 8 assists for Dickinson through just six games.

A senior, Dunster reached a milestone for Dickinson in its game against Stevens College on March 6, recording her 100th career goal.

The Cos Cob native tallied two goals and two assists in the team’s 17-10 win against Stevens College and added to her career scoring totals when she notched three goals and two assists in Dickinson’s 19-11 loss to Washington and Lee University. Dunster also notched three goals and two assists in the team’s defeat against the College of New Jersey.

For the season, Dickinson has a record of 4-2 heading into Saturday’s game at Bridgewater College. An All-Centennial Conference First Team selection in 2018, Dunster recorded a hat trick in two of the squad’s four victories.

Dunster, who was one the leading scorers for Greenwich during her Cardinals days, had 30 goals and 16 assists as a Dickinson junior in 2018 and also produced 30-goal seasons in 2017 and 2016.

Also competing on the lacrosse team at Dickinson is 2017 Greenwich High graduate Erika Bloes.

Chosen as the Centennial Conference’s Rookie of the Year in 2018, Bloes has picked up where she left off last season. Through six games, Bloes, who plays attack, has 11 goals and one assist.

She scored four times in the team’s 19-12 season-opening win against Lebanon Valley and had two goals and one assist in a 13-7 victory against St. Mary’s (Maryland).

Sticking to the college lacrosse scene, Genevieve DeWinter, who starred at Greenwich High, before taking her skills to Cornell University, is off to an impressive start for the Big Red.

The freshman midfielder made her collegiate debut by tallying twice in Cornell’s 13-12 loss to Villanova in season-opener. She recorded a hat trick in her second game — a 14-12 win against Penn State and had two goals and one assist in a 12-9 triumph against Columbia.

In six games, DeWinter has registered 10 goals and two assists for Cornell (4-2), which has won four straight games.
