Maryland school board chair accused of assaulting member
UPPER MARLBORO, Md. (AP) — The chairman of a Maryland school board has been accused of shoving and threatening one of its members.
WTOP-FM reports Prince George’s County School Board Chairman Segun Eubanks has been charged with second-degree assault. Board member Edward Burroughs III says Eubanks shoved him after a heated meeting Thursday.
Board member David Murray had asked at the meeting for Eubanks to resign along with former county schools CEO Kevin Maxwell. Maxwell resigned this year amid allegations including grade manipulation and unauthorized raises. Burroughs had supported the call for Eubanks’ resignation.
Burroughs says Eubanks pinned him against a wall after the meeting, “put his finger in my face and said ‘I will f— you up.’ ”
Eubanks declined to comment to the station on advice of counsel.
