Teachers at Florence event to hear talk on Five Golden Keys
FLORENCE, S.C. — In addition to the Early Childhood Summit on Friday, Helle Heckmann will speak Thursday evening at the Child Development Center to Florence teachers and child-care providers.
The event will run from 6 to 9 p.m. Dinner will start at 6 p.m. and Heckmann will speak at 7 p.m.
Heckmann will speak on her Five Golden Keys, which are tools she developed while working at the Waldorf School in Copenhagen, Denmark, as a kindergarten teacher.
Heckmann developed the Five Golden Keys as a way for parents to focus on five simple ways to help children grow and successfully be prepared for school.
Florence One Schools and The School Foundation are hosting the Thursday night event and the Friday morning event to begin the Count 5! public awareness campaign.
The five-month campaign will use one of Heckmann’s keys for each month: sleep, movement, nutrition, routine and love. For the month of September, the campaign will focus on sleep.
To RSVP for the event, email Florence One’s Early Childhood Coordinator Floyd Creech at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Child Development Center is at 1400 Woods Road in Florence.
