Unity man gets 4 to 8 years in prison for raping teenage girl

A Unity man will serve up to eight years in prison for repeatedly raping a teenage girl.

Bruce Palmer, 34, was convicted in August of 13 criminal counts including rape, aggravated indecent assault and statutory sexual assault.

Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Tim Krieger on Thursday sentenced Palmer to serve four-to-eight years in prison.

Palmer’s victim, now 20, told jurors during the trial that Palmer raped her as many as 20 times over a three-year period that ended in 2014. Palmer maintained he was a victim of made up allegations and that he never had any sexual contact with the girl.

Convicted with Palmer was his girlfriend, 40-year-old Marie Ann Farabaugh. Jurors found Farabaugh guilty of child endangerment and reckless endangerment for not intervening and stopping the sexual assaults.

Farabaugh, also of Unity, was sentenced Thursday to serve two years on probation, including six months of house arrest.
