Falcons Grounded by Williams

The Fitchburg State University men’s basketball team dropped a 109-41 decision to Williams College in non-conference action Thursday evening at the Parkinson Gymnasium.

Williams took control early and the Falcons never led, with a jumper from Henry Feinberg extending the Ephs’ lead to 29-8 midway through the first stanza.

Five straight points from the Falcons, on a trey from senior Charlie Ollis and baseline jumper from junior Kameron Jimenez-Fox cut the deficit to 38-18.

Leading 57-26 after intermission, the Ephs secured the victory with a 25-6 run to open the second half. As both teams emptied their benched down the stretch, Falcon freshman Damian Pantoja contributed a pair of baskets for his first points of his collegiate career.

Fitchburg State (2-5) was led by junior Nicholas Tracy with a team-best nine points and three rebounds. Jordan Jones added six points and Andre Ruff, Charles Doss and Pantoja each contributed four points off the bench.

For Williams (6-0), four players were in double figures. Senior Bobby Casey posted a game-high 26 points and five caroms, while sophomore Marc Taylor had 16 points off the bench.

The Ephs controlled the boards, holding a 57-25 margin on the glass and shot 59.7 percent from the field, including a 61.5 percent clip from 3-point range. The Falcons shot just 25.8 percent.

The Falcons will host WPI on Saturday for a non-conference tilt at noon.
