Country Singer Is Cancer Free

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) _ Ray Stevens, who wrote ``The Streak″ and ``Everything Is Beautiful,″ says he’s cancer-free after prostate surgery.

The 60-year-old singer had surgery June 15 at Johns Hopkins University Medical Center in Baltimore to remove his prostate.

``I’m very fortunate to have been given a clean bill of health following my surgery,″ he said in a statement today. ``The cancer was confined to the prostate.″

Ray returns to the stage at the Acuff Theatre in Nashville on Sept. 15.
