Huffman ISD school board: Colbert, Warren take early lead in races

There are three positions on the Huffman Independent School District Board of Trustees in the 2018 election, Positions 1, 2, and 3.

Robin Colbert, the current Position 1 Trustee, is not seeking re-election. Two candidates, Aaron Alexander and Vernon Reed, are running to replace Colbert.

Alexander is the owner of Canyon Commercial Construction, and Reed is a retired paralegal.

With absentee and early votes counted, Alexander leads Reed by an unofficial count of 1,731 votes (70.31 percent) votes to 731 votes (20.69 percent).

Jerry Jones, the current Position 2 Trustee, is not seeking re-election. Three candidates, Patricia Burham, Jared Dagley, and Dean Warren are seeking his spot.

Burnham is a retired adjunct electrician professor from San Jacinto College. Dagley is a managing partner for Forged Strategies, LLC, a content marketing agency. Warren is the owner of Warren’s Southern Gardens, Warren’s Outdoor Living, and Warren’s Custom Pools.

With absentee and early votes counted, Warren leads with an unofficial count of 1,714 votes (60.29 percent). Dagley is in second with 735 votes (25.85 percent). Burnham has 394 votes (13.86 percent).

Ray Burt, a retired firefighter, the president of the Huffman ISD Board, and the incumbent for Position 3 Trustee, is running unopposed to be re-elected to his position.
